People tend to have so many definitions for ‘love’ and I believe just as many for ‘God’, whether he be Allah, Dios or the many names that different creeds and nationalities refer to God as. When we put these two terms together ‘God’ and ‘love’, what does this mean? Is love conditional? Or is love unconditional? Is God conditional? Or is God unconditional? The Bible says: “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (1 John 4:8 KJV). The beginning of this above verse suggests that love is proactive and by the virtue of its proactivity it is also educational. If to love equals knowing God then a comprehensive knowledge of God arises from the act of sincerely loving someone. Loving God is not a separate reality from the whole of its creation, which of course includes our fellow human beings and more specifically, our own kind. It seems to me that failure to take a positive interest in our brothers and sisters could be argued to be a failure on our part to bring forth or manifest the Reality of GOD. God is not evoked with simple prayers or empty rituals or traditions. If God is Love according to 1 John 4:8, then God is present every time we are acting on the power of Love toward our brothers and sisters. In fact, I would add that God is evoked every time we show respect and exhibit proper manners when interacting with any and all of God’s creatures.
I would not waste time arguing over whether or not the Creator is Allah, Dios, Jehovah, or as many as our Native American family would say… ‘Grandfather’. Why? Because God is One known by many names as He is found in many and all things. According to the teachings of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, God means ‘Power’ and ‘Force’! Power means ‘capacity’ and force displays the activity of that power. If God means Power and Force, then on that basis what aspect of creation does not bear the signature of God? I respect that there are those who claim to not believe in the existence of God. However, I find it an extreme difficulty mathematically and scientifically to prove that God does not exist. Therefore I respectfully cannot give much credence to those who claim that God (Power and Force) does not exist. We may be able to disprove the assertion that God is an entity that is beyond human logic or comprehension as anything that cannot be proven has no value or worth outside of one’s own imagination.
“God is Love” means a lot more than an ‘emotion’. My teacher, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, teaches that Love is a creative force and so if God be Love, it is by and through Love that God created the entire universe and everything in it.
I know we all have the ability to ‘make’ something as this word ‘make’ is when we start fashioning something from something that already exists. However, we also (each and every one of us) have the capacity to create something from nothing. As my father, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, once told me when I was a child: “If you can think it, it can be. The mere idea is proof of the possibility.”. Think of your brain or your mind as the womb of space. Every time you are inspired with an idea you are, in effect, creating! Now, we must learn both patience and perseverance to bring into existence our creative thinking by developing the power of our WILL!
Until next week, think of something you desire and make sure it is something good and beneficial for not just you, but for all people in need of that good. Then, be sensitive and observe how different things will come into reality to facilitate your good idea! 😇
